QS Leadership Scholarship 2013 Winner Announced

The QS Leadership Scholarship 2013, worth US$10,000, has been awarded to Kiesean Riddick, Chicago Booth 2015, for demonstrating truly exceptional leadership.

When he fell seriously ill during his final year at the University of Rochester, Riddick decided that he wanted to make a positive impact on his local community while he had the chance. He dedicated time on the days when he was well enough to tutoring local youngsters.

Thankfully, he made a full recovery, but his appetite for helping people make the most of themselves did not wane. He joined a nonprofit called Groundwork, dedicated to helping at-risk students in Brooklyn get into university.

There were challenges along the way, but his time there was a great success, with no fewer than 80% of his students getting into university. Years later, many are enjoying great levels of success – pursuing PhDs, attending medical school and – perhaps most inspiringly – helping other students in at-risk communities.
